A letter from Tracy, Trey's sister:

With the help of the Holden Uganda Foundation, I chose to build a well in honor of my brother Trey. Trey and I were different than most siblings because we actually enjoyed hanging out with each other and preferred to do things together.  My mom still talks about how strange it was that we never fought.

On March 12, 2003 Trey got a call from a friend who had just gotten back from the Marines and wanted to go hang out.  After having dinner together, he left to meet his friend and I went to meet a friend of mine.  March 13, 2003 I woke up with chest pains and I was gasping for air… I felt like “someone sucked the life out of me”.  All I remember seeing were the big red numbers of an alarm clock, 12:58 am.

That morning I knew something wasn't right; I walked in the door and my dad told me to sit down… that’s never good.  He then told me that Trey was in a motorcycle accident and didn't make it.  I couldn't think, I couldn't move, but worst of all, I couldn't breathe.  I had no idea how to function.  The only thing I knew to do at that moment was pray and I prayed hard for the pain to go away.

A few weeks later, we got Trey’s death certificate and the time of death was March 13, 2003 at 12:58 am. The toxicology report confirmed that Trey was intoxicated when he had his wreck.  This broke my heart because he was such an amazing guy with a HUGE heart who absolutely loved kids; I didn't want his last impression to be drunk driver.  I've been searching and praying for something, but I wasn't sure what.  Then I heard about Holden Uganda and I knew this was it… I found it.

I hope and pray when the people get their water from Trey’s well, they will see his name and associate it with a good thing because Trey was a good man.
